The only thing you could count on when it came to rich people was how dangerously committed they were to attending anything close to a dinner party. Admittedly, I hadn't been to many. If you weren't working with a certain level of college degrees, your best bet to be invited to something this extravagant would be to marry up.

Most of my fancy night outs had been reserved for munches or kink-related events because let's face it; who would invite me out to such an occasion, unless it was backed by partners in kink? Overthinking things was making me nervous, and if I planned to survive three-to-five hours of small talk with the affluent and wealthy, then I had to pull out my inviting smile and hope for the best.

Dr. Karagiannis had made that easier by drowning out most of the ride with music I assumed helped him to focus. I’m sure he had shared his musical tastes before, but it became harder to ignore that he was a huge Prince fan. Dr. Karagiannis could never perform a surgery without two, or seven, songs from Prince from his personal playlist.

I didn't personally listen to Prince since his style of music greatly differed from what I grew up to, but from what I knew of him as an artist, Dr. Karagiannis had good taste in music. A half-hour with nothing but soft music and minimal traffic made the estimated forty-five-minute drive no more than thirty.

Dr. Karagiannis pulled up to the front of the hotel, the chosen venue for the annual spring party. Opting for valet parking minimized any unnecessary bouts of silence between us. He did give a brief explanation of what to expect. I was advised to dial down my smile a bit. Since he knew I was conscious of my reputation, if I didn't want anyone to assume I was a doctor groupie, the friendliest approach was to be demure but not flirtatious.

That basically stripped me of my entire personality, but I had to remind myself I wasn't here for me. I was here for him and some supposed hospital CEO or something. I wasn’t clear on the details; I just knew he wanted me to butter them up.

Dr. Karagiannis led the way to the elevator, and the moment the doors slid closed he adjusted his tuxedo jacket. I almost didn't want to tell him that from my angle his bowtie looked as if it needed adjusting too. Knowing he wouldn't want to embarrass himself, I pushed past my discomfort as he allowed me to fix it.

“That better?” he asked as my hands pulled away, not much different than when I had gowned him up. Nodding my confirmation, I went back to ignoring how handsome he looked in eveningwear. It was no wonder I had taken him for a dominant as his career and position only pushed him further into giving off an authoritative presence.

If I had that context in the past, who knows how much fun
